It's unthinkable that 145 countries guarantee paid sick days—but the United States, the wealthiest nation in the world, is not one of them.

Healthy workers are critical to a productive economy. But there are no federal or state laws that guarantee workers the basic protection of paid sick days. In 2006, San Francisco passed the nation’s first ordinance providing all workers in the city paid sick days.

The Healthy Families Act is proposed federal legislation that will guarantee workers up to seven paid sick days a year to recover from an illness or care for a sick family member.

The National Partnership is leading a coalition to advance the Healthy Families Act and support local initiatives across the country. But we need your help.
