Problem

Did you know that 57 million working people don't have a single paid sick day?

Nearly half (48%) of private-sector workers—and nearly 80% of low-wage workers—do not have paid sick days to care for their own health. And nearly 100 million workers don’t have paid sick days to care for a sick child.

Working people without paid sick days are more likely to work in jobs that require frequent contact with the public. More than three in four food service and hotel workers don’t have paid sick days.

Even the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends staying home when we’re sick with common illnesses like the flu, and keeping sick children out of school. Workers without paid sick days don’t have that option, and we all risk getting sick.
