Success Stories » First-Ever FMLA Expansion
Here's some good news for military families. We secured the first-ever expansion of the Family & Medical Leave Act (FMLA).
President Bush signed the Department of Defense Authorization Conference Report on January 28, 2008, which included the FMLA expansion (originally proposed as the Support for Injured Servicemembers Act).
This law extends unpaid family and medical leave for up to six months for the families of wounded military personnel. The National Partnership was outspoken in its support for this historic expansion, and we continue to fight to expand the FMLA to cover all workers and for legislation that provides paid leave.
Urge Congress to restore and expand the FMLA to cover all workers.
