December 4, 2015 — Nevada Attorney General Adam Laxalt (R) on Wednesday announced he was closing an inquiry into fetal tissue donation practices by Planned Parenthood clinics in the state after verifying that the organization had committed no wrongdoing, AP/KTVN reports. Laxalt's office disclosed that lawyers for Planned Parenthood clinics in Las Vegas had confirmed that the facilities do not perform surgical abortions or participate in fetal tissue donation.
Laxalt opened the inquiry following the release of misleading videos targeting the organization. In September, he requested that Planned Parenthood officials confirm information on their website about the organization's abortion procedures. According to the website, the only abortion care that Planned Parenthood clinics in Nevada offer is medication abortion (AP/KTVN, 12/2).
Other states that have launched investigations include Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Missouri, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Washington. As of November, more than 12 states that concluded investigations into the organization found no evidence of wrongdoing (Women's Health Policy Report, 11/18).
