"Oklahoma Governor Signs New Bill Restricting Medication Abortion," Teddy Wilson, RH Reality Check: Wilson comments on a recently signed Oklahoma law (HB 2684) that will "place restrictions on medication abortion by mandating that providers follow outdated [FDA] protocols for the delivery of the drugs that induce early abortion." Citing a report from the Guttmacher Institute, Wilson notes that "the current medication abortion regimen specified by [FDA] is outdated" because it is "based on findings from the original application and data submitted by pharmaceutical companies for approval of specific drugs" that "lag well behind evolving scientific evidence on the use and dosages of a wide range of drugs" (Wilson, RH Reality Check, 4/23).
