La. House Panel Passes Measures Targeting Planned Parenthood, Medication Abortion

May 23, 2013 — A Louisiana House panel on Tuesday endorsed a bill (SB 90) that would restrict medication abortions, the Baton Rouge Advocate reports.

The measure now proceeds to the House floor for consideration.

The House Health and Welfare Committee also approved a bill that would ban the use of telemedicine during the provision of medication abortions and require that a physician be present while a woman takes the drugs (Shuler, Baton Rouge Advocate, 5/22).

The Senate approved the bill last month (Women's Health Policy Report, 4/24).
