Planned Parenthood of Central North Carolina v. Cansler

Challenge to a North Carolina law that prohibits the state’s department of health and human services from providing state or state-administered funds to Planned Parenthood affiliates. In August 2011, the U.S. District Court issued a ruling enjoining enforcement of the law pending resolution of the case. Final Outcome: In June 2012, a federal court struck down the law as unconstitutional under the First and Fourteenth Amendments to the Constitution, as well as the Supremacy Clause and the prohibitions against bills of attainder.
